Why renovate Station 1

Current issues with Station1:

  • Fifty eight year old building does not meet current Local, State or Federal regulations.
  • Grossly inadequate truck bays to safely accommodate all the existing apparatus.
  • Grossly inadequate office and storage space.
  • Unable to install proper and safe diesel fume exhaust capture system.
  • No decontamination capability, no bunker gear washing facility, no showers or overnight bunking capabilities. No first floor restroom and no handicap accessibility to second floor.
Improvements:
  • Along with resolving the above issues, the building will be completely ADA compliant, be made of durable, low maintenance materials, have an ANSI recommended decontamination space and will provide training facilities for firematic emergency exiting, rappelling & confined space extrication.
  • Energy efficient mechanical systems, plus an energy efficient lighting design will be used throughout the building. R-Values will be in excess of current codes and special emphasis will be given to minimize air leakage.
  • The apparatus bays will hold nine vehicles and have proper, modern clearances for safety.

This is just a small sampling of the many positive results of the renovation/addition that is designed.
