Apalachin Fire Department provides paramedic-level emergency medical services and ambulance transportation through a combined career and volunteer team.

More than the base rate.
- 1½× overtimeFor hours worked over 40 in the established workweek.
- 2× holiday payFor hours worked on department-recognized holidays.
- Transfer premiumsAdditional compensation may be available for designated interfacility transfer coverage under department policy.
- Paid time offPTO accrues at 0.04 hours for each hour worked—equivalent to one hour of PTO per 25 hours worked. Accruals are rounded to the nearest tenth of an hour, credited after each pay period, and subject to an 80-hour maximum.
- 3% SIMPLE IRA matchEmployees reasonably expected to earn at least $5,000 during the calendar year are eligible to participate. The department matches employee contributions dollar-for-dollar up to 3% of compensation.
General qualifications

Complete requirements vary by assignment and will be reviewed during the hiring process.
- Current New York State certification at the required EMS level
- Current CPR certification and other credentials required for the position
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
- Effective communication, teamwork, and patient-care skills
- Ability to complete orientation, training, and competency evaluations
- Ability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation
